Skåne (Scania) is full of splendid spots - these are my favourites:
Along the coast there is a pearl string of the finest sandy beaches, for instance MOSSBYSTRAND (Mossby Beach). Opposite MOSSBY KAFFESTUGA (Mossby Coffee Cottage) with its huge table of pastry and cookies is an almost unknown beach where you can go for a swim in private. At YSTADS SANDSKOG (Ystad Sand Forest) there are many small paths leading to the Baltic Sea, just pick your choice! Beyond Ystad there is a marvellous beach at HAGESTAD and further away is SANDHAMMAREN (The Sand Hammer) with its many sand dunes where you can hide with a blanket and sunbathe.
A high and mighty experience is to stop at KABUSA military fields where on some occasions you are allowed to walk up the hills. But do look at the notice board to make sure that there are no military shooting exercises at that time! High up there is an absolutely outstanding view of the ocean, the sky and the green hills! If you are young, continue walking down to the beach. Myself, I stretch out on the green earth, enjoying fully that moment of eternity.
At HAMMARS BACKAR (Hammar Hills) and KÅSEBERGA the adventurous can go paragliding and see the world from a bird´s perspective. The less adventurous can fly in tandem with an instructor.
Now away to BACKAGÅRDEN near Kåseberga with the yummiest apple pie in Skåne, made with lots of butter and cinnamon. Enjoy it in the old greenhouse among ripening grapes and large fig trees, an incredibly romantic atmosphere made for courtship. And believe me, many couples get married here!
OLOF VIKTORS a bit further down in Österlen is another cosy café with an in-house bakery and patisserie with a genuine feeling for aromas and flavours.
